Diane’s Impact: Championing Women in Business & Leadership
Diane Tompson is a visionary entrepreneur, mentor, and advocate for women in business. As co-owner of Powercom Consultants, Novaris, and Powercom Systems, she has played a pivotal role in driving innovation and business success in Tasmania and beyond. She is also a founding director of Novaris Technologies Malaysia (NTM) and Novaris Asia (Singapore), expanding her influence on the global stage.
Her passion for empowering women in business has led her to hold leadership roles in international organizations, including serving as past National President of Women Chiefs of Enterprises International (WCEI) and as Vice President for the Pacific and Asian regions of FCEM (Les Femmes Chiefs d’Entreprise Mondial). Diane made history as the first Australian President of The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) and continues to serve on its board. She has also been Australia’s representative on the IORA Women Leaders Network for three years.
Her other passion is in manufacturing and has represented Tasmania on Australian boards for this sector for many years as an advocate for Australian Manufacturers.
Diane has been instrumental in shaping mentoring programs that support women entrepreneurs, including the IORA Women Leaders Network initiative and the FCEM Indian Ocean mentoring program. Through collaborations with global networks such as FCEM, AMFCE, and DFAT, she has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for women to thrive in business and leadership.
Her contributions have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year award, the Australian Institute of Company Directors Gold Medal, the IWEC Award, and the FCEM Yvonne Foinant “Award of the Year.” In 2024, she was honored with the WCEI “Champion and Ambassador Award,” further cementing her legacy as a leader and advocate for women’s economic empowerment.
A fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Royal Society for the Arts, Diane continues to inspire, mentor, and champion women in business, helping entrepreneurs achieve their full potential and contribute to economic growth worldwide.
