Deborah wace – Director
Botanical Art & Designs
I am a Churchill Fellow, a botanical artist & fabric designer, ecological activist, and professional printmaker from Tasmania. My highly detailed and intimate artwork creates a window into the botany of Tasmanian wild plant communities.
Woven in and through my work is a rich narrative of plant collectors, early naturalists, of deep connection into history and country, flora and botany.
My Company- Deborah WACE Pty Ltd, draws on a personal botanical specimen collection gathered over 30 years, digitised at high resolution, to create rich, layered and complex botanical designs on fine fabric and wallpapers, substrates for glass, and in limited edition fine art, using digital, dry point and monoprint techniques. I create original artwork that is richly linked to the early Tasmanian and French, botanical historical record.
I create real conversations and stories about habitat loss and biodiversity……through botanical fabric and wallpaper design, using broadside quality film, public speaking and original song, plus teaching printmaking in my new Cygnet based studio in the Huon Valley, Tasmania, or remotely at conferences and events.
I offer printmaking /art classes to local intimate sized groups; to luxury art tours and for corporate team building, using my own and larger networks to develop invitations and marketing regarding my printmaking teaching classes.
Through my artwork and designs, I am creating pathways to an international market, building licensing opportunities/arrangements, & developing industry partnerships for print production of innovative contemporary Australian designs for fabric and architectural canvasses.
