Janis McKenna is Founder and Managing Director of Elm Consulting Australia, a boutique management consultancy specialising in governance, leadership, and strategy for purpose-driven organisations. With extensive international commercial acumen spanning Australia, UK, and Ghana, Janis delivers agile, entrepreneurial solutions that enable organisations to build sustainable prosperity and transformational impact.
Janis commands a sophisticated international portfolio encompassing healthcare, technology, and property development ventures. As trustee of the Dove Foundation, she champions healthcare accessibility for underserved communities while advancing postgraduate medical education and professional development across Africa.
A distinguished board director, Janis serves multiple private boards including Nyaho Healthcare Limited, West Africa’s pioneering private hospital established by her father in Accra, Ghana. This flagship institution serves diplomatic missions, Fortune 500 corporations, and international NGOs. She holds an MBA and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
As a highly sought advisor, Janis has provided expert advice to two Tasmanian Premiers and multiple Health and Human Services Ministers at both Commonwealth and State levels. Her past leadership appointments include Chairman of the Tasmanian Advisory Council on Multicultural Affairs, and membership of the Premier’s Disability Advisory Council and NDIS Taskforce.
Her expertise encompasses corporate, nonprofit, and family governance; organisational transformation; strategic policy development; and stakeholder engagement, with unwavering focus on client-centred outcomes.
Janis’s leadership excellence has earned international recognition, including the 2025 International Alliance for Women World of Difference Award, the prestigious Telstra Business Women’s Award (Government and Community), and the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year Award.
She serves as past National President of Women Chiefs of Enterprises International, maintaining active membership in Executive Women’s Network and The Boardroom Africa, continuing her commitment to elevating women’s leadership globally.
