Our company has been engaged in shipping for more than a hundred years, with a comprehensive and integrated range of offer, aligned to the operational dynamics of our customers, for which we are a unique reference point to collect, ship and deliver goods, together with the related assistance. 

Thanks to our long-established presence in Italy and subsidiaries in Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and more than six hundred employees, our offer is implemented through four business units, each with its specific expertise:

Ship Agency

Full assistance on ships, cargo and crew, to liner and tramp vessels, cruise ships, mega yachts.

 

We have been working in shipping for over a hundred years, with an eye to the dynamics of logistics and transport, well-rooted within the community, which over time allowed for implementing our offer: besides acting as ship agents, we also give our customers the opportunity to consider us their local reference point, advising them on sales and development chances. 

International Freight Forwarding

Providing full services by sea, air, land or train, for imports and exports, both for in-gauge or exceptional cargoes.

Thanks to a highly integrated and structured network of world-class logistic partners and suppliers in our target markets, first-class equipment and infrastructures, more than one century of expertise, we plan, design, organize and manage door-to-door, multimodal, cost-effective shipping services worldwide.

Port Terminals

Handling, storing and managing goods in port areas, specializing in general, reefer, Ro-Ro cargoes and heavy lifts.

Located both in the Customs Free Port and at the Industrial Port of Trieste, devoted to Ro-Ro cargoes and heavy lifts, the port terminals we manage work with two priorities in mind regarding ship owners and logistic providers: efficiency and flexibility. In line with that, we keep investing on the infrastructures we use and offer, enlarging our service portfolio, and focus on continuously training and upgrading the expertise of the deployed personnel, besides complying with the highest safety and security standards.

Lloyd’s Agent since 1932 – P&I Correspondents – Full assistance for transport claims.

 

We have been agents of Lloyd’s of London since 1932 and local correspondents of the most prestigious global P&I Clubs. Thanks to over a century of experience in the maritime insurance field and the in-depth knowledge of legal matters, we can guarantee efficient and timely assistance in any problem related to national and international transport claims.

History

A CENTURY OF SOLID ROOTS

Ellerman & Wilson Lines Agency Company Ltd. was founded on the 1st December 1919 in Trieste as the Italian company of the British giant ship owner EWL. In 1973 Ellerman & Wilson Lines took over Edgar H. Greenham & Co., an insurance company established in Trieste back in 1826, whose business has since been managed separately, keeping its own brand, as a sister company. 
In 1981 the EWL Group carried out a major reorganization, whereby the capital shares of the Italian office were taken over by the local shareholders, under the guidance and direction of the then Managing Director, Capt. Dario Samer, who was the first non-British manager at EWL. Since the early ’80s, Dario managed the company together with his son Enrico and daughter Lilli.
In 1985, the company name was changed into Samer & Co. Shipping, currently chaired by Mr. Enrico Samer, who is also the CEO for sales and operations, while Mrs. Lilli Samer is the CEO in charge of insurance and administration.
Since 1998 Mr. Enrico Samer succeeded his father Dario as General Honorary Consul of the Republic of Türkiye for North-Eastern Italy.
Samer & Co. Shipping has more than a century of history, dotted with numerous experiences and significant achievements, that are the basis of our ever-changing present and the guidelines to manage the future, focused attentively and proactively on customers.
